Some people have a problem with the Duck characters in Runequest: they consider them silly. I like them a lot though. I play them as slightly bitter second class citizens that often get the short end of the stick. Ducks not living among their own or in Boldhome tend to live in the poorer parts of town, several families crammed together in small houses. The entrepreneur types among them become rogue traders, thiefs, assassins, or spies. Above is brown squad, below you can see squad blue. Miniatures are by Mongoose. They are great quality, about 22 mm to the eye, and with excellent detail.

It took me some time to get used to the Mongoose design. I'm really fond of the old citadels and I like the Lance and laser ones, even if they are too big. I am going to need a few ducks for one of my next games and I own some of all those ducks. I may even have a Ral Partha one somewhere. I just can t make a choice. For now, the L&L are leading the race as they have more visual impact, which is important for a demo game. I won t have enough from Ral Partha/Citadel and I have a lot of Mongoose, but I would need to make some conversions to use them (I need more civilians)...
RépondreSupprimerIt's true that the Lance and laser ones are really pretty. The style is very different, their ducks are cuter. I like the Mongoose too because they look a bit meaner.
