Great Troll

This is one of the Lance and Laser models, depicting a great troll.

Troll

This is a troll, from the Ral Partha range.

Broo Champion

This model is in 'heroic' 28 mm scale, but it measures about 35 mm to the eyes. Very big Broo.

Shaker Temple High Priestess

Here is the gigantic high priestess of the bloody Maran Gor Shaker Cult travels in her processional wagon, drawn by six blind cave oxen and escorted by her virgin cannibal cultists.

The Shakers make the barren ground around their temple fertile, by ploughing the corpses of victims into the soil. They defend their realm by summoning massive earthquakes, and eat parts of their captives to gain their magics.

All the pictures are clickable.

I built the wagon from the bitzbox and greenstuff. The oxen are converted from Front Rank. The chains are silver (strictly should be copper, the cult metal of earth religions). The queen herself is very heavily converted from a Reaper Rat King model.

At one stage, my son Jack dropped the completed but unpainted model; did I swear? Yes I did!

The cultist miniatures are converted from Foundry, Citadel, Shadowforge and Gripping Beast. They were superbly painted for me by Nick Speller; the colours he chose are especially effective!

chariot miniatures. On the left, slingers :Being slingers, they have Hedkoranth Runes on their shields! On the right : Yes, I know, they're penguins. Ninja penguin keets, to be precise. This is due to a very old joke on the Glorantha mailing lists.

Air Elemental

(Durulz army)one I bought pre-painted. No, I can't remember the range, but I'm sure someone will. Only needed basing.

Sable Riders

The Sables were supplied by The London War Room. The riders are converted from figures supplied by Dixon, Bicorne and Rafm. A couple of old figures made by Miniature Figurines and Garrison, found in my spares box were also used.

Durulz army

Played in HOTT as "spears" - well, they're actually holding Bills. Duck Bills. Yes, the ducks do have flat feet, yes, I do like bad puns.

Sable Shaman

The Sable Shaman figure is by Ral Partha and his spirits are by Reaper and Games Workshop.

The Founder is based on a Grenadier Swamp Giant with the head replaced by one sculpted from greenstuff. The ancestor spirits are converted from the Tabletop sable and impala riders.

Bison Tribe Founder and Ancestor Spirits

The Founder is, I think, based on a Grenadier Minotaur with the head replaced by one sculpted from greenstuff. The ancestor spirits are converted from Dixon Plains Indians mounted on WestWind Cowboy Wars bison.

Another orc from Otherworld miniatures used as a broo.

From Fenryll. None is sold as a broo, but both do the job.

Ostrish riders

The ostrich were made by The London War Room and the riders were converted from some 20mm Numidian Cavalry made by Newline Designs.

Broo Patrol

These are the Broo from Mongoose. Like the ducks, they are rather small and quite finely built. Most of the other broo in my possession are bigger, more muscular, and look more dangerous. Still, these Broo are decent quality, with good variety and OK detail.

Jaldon Toothmaker

This picture really shows that I need to use some matte varnish on my figures. The skeletal horse is, I think, made by Grenadier. The rider is a conversion using the legs from a Dixon Plains Indian brave and the torso from an old Games Workshop barbarian.

Ducks

Some people have a problem with the Duck characters in Runequest: they consider them silly. I like them a lot though. I play them as slightly bitter second class citizens that often get the short end of the stick. Ducks not living among their own or in Boldhome tend to live in the poorer parts of town, several families crammed together in small houses. The entrepreneur types among them become rogue traders, thiefs, assassins, or spies. Above is brown squad, below you can see squad blue. Miniatures are by Mongoose. They are great quality, about 22 mm to the eye, and with excellent detail.

Sable Camp

The tipis were made using brass wire and fimo modeling putty. The figures around the camp are made by Dixon.

Walktapus

Here is the Lance and Laser Walktapus. L&L went out of business some time ago, and Armorcast USA has taken over the molds and is selling the L&L Glorantha range now.

Broos

For Fur and Feathers. Both are from Citadel. The lance is an headless nail.

broos

Broos for one of my future games, codename "fur and feathers". Both are from Citadel.

Broos

Broos for one of my future games. From Citadel. I have a doubt on the middle one. Pilum from Foundry, lance is a small headless nail.

Broos

A few broos I've been working on for a future game. Those are from Citadel (the right one is a recent plastic one with a head from a plastic toy) Shield is from some historic miniatures company. Simple paint job, acrylic paint and oil wash.

Broo shaman

One of the broos I've been working on for a future game. This one is from Otherworld miniatures (sold as an orc). Simple paint job, acrylic paint and oil wash.

Bison Shaman

The shaman is from jeffvalents Deadlands: The Great Rail Wars Miniatures range and his spirit is from the Lance & Laser Warchest range.

Bison Khan

The majority of the Bison are made by West Wind (from the Cowboy Wars
range), with a couple supplied by Tabletop. The riders are converted from
figures supplied by Dixon, Tin Soldier UK and Navigator Miniatures. The Tin
Soldier UK figures are from their Sarmatian range. They are wearing scale
armour made from animal horn, which is, I think, very appropriate for Bison
Riders.
