This is the Headhanger. It collects heads which it puts on a spike on his back to gain access to the victims manna and spells. One of my favourite 'surprises'.

This Scorpion man is a modification of a Scorpion Beast, which I purchased from a guy in the UK through e-bay, and a torso of a Naked Fanatic, manufacturer unknown, that was still lying around in my bit box. It's quite a big scorpion man, so I use him as a hero. Some bits from GW in there too.

Shaker Temple High Priestess

Here is the gigantic high priestess of the bloody Maran Gor Shaker Cult travels in her processional wagon, drawn by six blind cave oxen and escorted by her virgin cannibal cultists.

The Shakers make the barren ground around their temple fertile, by ploughing the corpses of victims into the soil. They defend their realm by summoning massive earthquakes, and eat parts of their captives to gain their magics.

I built the wagon from the bitzbox and greenstuff. The oxen are converted from Front Rank. The chains are silver (strictly should be copper, the cult metal of earth religions). The queen herself is very heavily converted from a Reaper Rat King model.

At one stage, my son Jack dropped the completed but unpainted model; did I swear? Yes I did!

The cultist miniatures are converted from Foundry, Citadel, Shadowforge and Gripping Beast. They were superbly painted for me by Nick Speller; the colours he chose are especially effective!

These are the Broo from Mongoose. Like the ducks, they are rather small and quite finely built. Most of the other broo in my possession are bigger, more muscular, and look more dangerous. Still, these Broo are decent quality, with good variety and OK detail.

This picture really shows that I need to use some matte varnish on my figures. The skeletal horse is, I think, made by Grenadier. The rider is a conversion using the legs from a Dixon Plains Indian brave and the torso from an old Games Workshop barbarian.

Some people have a problem with the Duck characters in Runequest: they consider them silly. I like them a lot though. I play them as slightly bitter second class citizens that often get the short end of the stick. Ducks not living among their own or in Boldhome tend to live in the poorer parts of town, several families crammed together in small houses. The entrepreneur types among them become rogue traders, thiefs, assassins, or spies. Above is brown squad, below you can see squad blue. Miniatures are by Mongoose. They are great quality, about 22 mm to the eye, and with excellent detail.

The majority of the Bison are made by West Wind (from the Cowboy Wars
range), with a couple supplied by Tabletop. The riders are converted from
figures supplied by Dixon, Tin Soldier UK and Navigator Miniatures. The Tin
Soldier UK figures are from their Sarmatian range. They are wearing scale
armour made from animal horn, which is, I think, very appropriate for Bison
Riders.

Shaker Temple Quakebeasts

The riders are converted Tin Soldier Scythians (a nice and somewhat overlooked range), and the beasts themselves are from Schleich.

Gunda the Gunda the Guilty is the daughter of a valkyrie who was conquered and raped by a cruel philosopher. When she was 12 she claimed by combat her first pack of wolf-pirates. She became a close friend of Harrek (the chap with the polar bear skin). IIRC her magical spear means that she absorbs the guilt of anyone she kills with it.

Lance and Laser model; Foundry viking companions. I use her as a hero, in HoTT terms. Makes mental note; need to repaint her spear!

The figures are a Grenadier Titan and an old Fantasy Tribes female warrior, produced by Citadel in the late 70's early 80's. The Fantasy Tribes figure is there to give an idea on scale, really. The Titan is to be used in my Glorantha campaign as a Lunar mercenary giant (and the regimental champion of the local Lunar bad-guys). At the moment he would be far too tough for my PCs. He has a very nice shield design already sculpted on the shield and looks about right (ie: looking down at PCs!).

Beat-Pot Aelwrin

Beatpot Aelwrin led a slave revolt against the Lunar Empire. He gained his name from his use of kitchen implements as weapons (his cauldron helmet and a cleaver which you can't unfortunately see in this photograph). He was later converted to the Lunar Way by Jar-eel the Razoress.
